Wow it has been a while

I can not it has been over three months since I last posted here. I moved to a new place again over the summer and the kids have started school back.

I am also going to be having surgery in 2 weeks. Which can cost a lot of money these days. I do not qualify for Medicaid because we make to much money and I have no health insurance through work. So how do I get my medical care some through debt but mostly through a clinic that has sliding fee scale for their patients.

Where I live there is a teaching hospital nearby and several clinics that has lots of migrant worker as patients. They offer their patients a sliding fee that is based on what you make. I pay $25 for each visit to my regular doctor. They also have specialist that work with them who also takes their patients on a sliding fee scale and that is $30.

Now my clinic also has a pharmacy that also works on a sliding fee scale as well. I can get my medicines their at a reduce cost. For example my husband takes a cholesterol medicine that cost over $200 at a big name pharmacy and at our clinic we get it for $5.

So if you do not have insurance at all, check around where you are at and see if there is a clinics that offers a sliding fee scale program. It can end up saving you a lot of money in the long run and help you get your medicines and medical care that you need.
